'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the deflection before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an incredible recovery given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a upcoming game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that growth for his team and nation, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
